How to change Volkswagen GTI headlight bulb?

I own a 2000 GTI, and I want to replace the headlight bulbs with brighter ones. I was going to get Silvania Ultras, but are there any nice white and bright bulbs that you recommend that are not too pricy? Anyway, I looked under the hood, and there is a cover that comes off to access the bulbs. The bulb and wire are held in with like a thin metal wire clip. You have to %26quot;bend%26quot; it around part of the housing holding the clip on. You really just have to get in there and take a look at it. Play around with the metal piece and you'll see.

Don't twist the light bulbs or the wires but almost the whole thing. It should come out easy. Be careful taking it out if it was recently on because it's going to be hot. If it's broken then never mind it and wiggle it out. Insert the new headlight bulbs but don't touch the glass because you will decrease the life of the bulb. Make sure you don't lose the rubber seal on the way in because that'll get some water in possibly burning it out or fogging up the headlight hence decreasing visibility. You can buy bulbs for like $10 at any car accessory store, Pepboys, Autozone, CAP, NAPA, etc..

As it shows, starting on page 330, you have to remove the headlamp assembly from the body to access the bulb from behind it.How to Change '05 Dodge Dakota Headlight Bulb?Inside the engine compartment you can gain access to the back of the head light bulbs. There you will see a plastic holder that twists to remove. look close with a flash light and it will have directional arrows to aid in removal. Once out, remove old bulb and with out touching the glass area of the new bulb, reinstall the new bulb. There are wires over the bulb end that sticks out the back that don't seem to want to be unattached. They seem to be pressure-fit but won't pop away. Otherwise the setup seems the same as my old Ford Escort... twist the bulb casing and pull it out, stick the new bulb in and twist.
